Do you ever just want an cocktail with a little extra pizzazz? There are garnishes, and then there are “wow” factor add-ons that both kids and adults will love.
Edible Glitter
Edible Glitter comes in all kinds of different colors, but I find that a silver color is most versatile for any drink. Speaking of any drink, I mean any, so want to drink a glittery N/A beer while watching Netflix in your pajamas? Go for it! It stays surprisingly buoyant and does not transfer when you drink it. It’s incredibly fun for holidays or birthday parties!
Edible Flowers
Gin flavor profiles pair amazingly with many garnishes, including pretty herbs like rosemary and sage and citrus peels, but if you really want to take it up a notch and add some florals, consider adding edible flowers that will compliment the floral notes.
Rock Candy Sticks
These remind me of when I was a kid, and are fantastic additions for drinks like an Old Fashioned or Espresso Mocktini/White Russian. You can opt for more colorful sticks for special occasions!
Cocktail Rimmers
The variety in cocktail rimmers is endless- you can go for diverse flavors, or attractive optics. I really love the selection of rimming sugars and salts from Snowy River, like their Pride line of salt & sugar! Just squeeze some citrus juice in a bowl or on a clean sponge, run the top of your glass through it, and then dip into the rimming of your choice!
Colors
This isn’t a garnish, exactly, but there are a few great ways to add organic color to your drinks.
The first, Butterfly Tea, is great for drinks that contain a citrus juice like lemonade or sour mix. It brews blue, but will fade into purple and then pink when added to citrus. If you don’t want your drink to be diluted, it can also be frozen into ice cubes that change the color of the drink as they melt.
Another great natural coloring option is Ube, which is purple yam-based. I use this for Halloween cocktails especially, but it’s great for anything with blueberry, lavender or raspberry flavoring as well.
Enjoy!
