It’s a holiday head-to-head! Most of my sober and sober curious friends are starting to chat about what alternatives they will be bringing to holiday gatherings, so I figured it would be a good time to put some mulled wines to the test. I picked up a couple of bottles of IKEA Vintersaga for $3.99 each last week. It’s a mix of mulling spices and juices (grape, apple, cranberry, lemon). Then I saw Belvoir Farms’ Mulled Winter Punch online and love their products, so I grabbed a bottle for $16.00. The mix of juices in this one are grape, elderberry, blackcurrant and orange.
I knew from first smell which one I liked better, and it wasn’t the one I expected at all!!!
IKEA Vintersaga
The IKEA Vintersaga was a hands down winner in our house! It smells of cinnamon, has a wonderful, tart juice flavor with strong cloves and ginger. It’s sweet, but absolutely delicious both hot and cold. Plus, it’s an absolute steal at the price point!
This really is a holiday “treat”. A 240mL serving has 210 calories and 46 total carbs.
Belvoir Farms Mulled Winter Punch
The Belvoir Farms had a strong prune juice scent and a heavy grape juice taste. I could barely pick up any spice flavor or other juices at all. I didn’t try heating it, it just wasn’t my jam (no pun intended!) It was a pricey experiment!
The upside is that this one is a waist-friendlier at just under 100 calories for a 200mL serving and 24 total carbs.
